They say every beginning is difficult. I believe this to be true. But why is Affiliate Marketing so challenging? At the end of the day, it is a simple business model that allows an internet marketer to sell other people's products to consumers. For each sale, this internet marketer earns a commission. That's it, really. So why is it so complicated?


Affiliate Marketing is not complicated - but we make it complicated. And how are we doing this? If you search the internet for 1 particular answer to how to do business online, I bet you find nearly an endless amount of advice, how-to's, ebooks and software that claim to fully cover this question. I believe that every internet marketer has his or her own business model that works and at times, those models are the basis for products that are then pitched to newcomers.

Those newcomers are completely overwhelmed by the sheer number of offers and all claim - at least this is what the sales page says - to lead to nearly 100% success rate; you know, to those unimaginable riches of this world.

Why do those newcomers fall for those shiny new objects? I dare say they do this because they don't know any better. How can anyone judge the success rate of a product or software if you can't see the big picture?

At the end of the day, affiliate marketing is another name for doing business online by selling other people's products. It's that simple. The fact that not everyone knows how to do business online makes it complicated and complicated things should be learnt first and then applied.

And here we have the crux of this little Pandora's Box: every person learns at a different speed, every personal knows different things to start with and lacks understanding in certain areas. For this reason, there can't be just 1 explanation that fits all that could fully explain how affiliate marketing works properly.

And exactly that's the very fact and motivation that keeps the unprofessional internet marketer going. This is when those market players create questionable products and release them onto the online world; like opening Pandora's Box.

There is though 1 highlight: as soon as the newcomer affiliate marketer understands the big picture she sees Hope at the bottom of the box. And Hope offers the choice to do better, to truly create added value to the online world and hence deserves this internet lifestyle we all crave for.

I believe a professional affiliate marketer has an overview and knows where her strengths are. She would also understand that affiliate marketing is in fact not 1 business model, but a collection of several models that can be used in combination. She would also choose to document her own experiences and publish parts of it as internet marketing overview and hopes that this overview would shed some light for other people who wish to do affiliate marketing.
